Tossing Bullets
Screenplay By: Jacob Bradford Woodruff
Novel By: Sarah H. Magill
When World War II sent ballplayers to battlefields, professional teams searched in new places to fill their rosters, like a high school field in Sandusky, Ohio. On the mound, 14-year-old Frankie Grady was unbeatable. Pitching came easy to him, and the baseball diamond was the one place he could forget, even for just a few innings, that his dad had recently died and that his brother Charlie was off fighting in the war. But leaving his family, friends, and home to play in the big leagues was a whole new world. At a time when the country needed baseball to boost people's spirits, could Frankie find a way to fit in the grow-up world of professional sports?
